IP Datacast Forum is 'Open' For Business.
Zug, Switzerland, 22 January, 2002: The IP Datacast Forum has been
formally constituted and is committed to take an active role promoting
the use of IP (Internet Protocol) based services over digital broadcast
networks.
Following the pioneering work of the initial founding members announced
at IBC-2001, the IP Datacast Forum was formally established on 22
January at an Extraordinary General Assembly held in Zug, Switzerland.
The following twelve member companies are committed under the Terms
of Association to work together to contribute to the development
of a common vision, and long-term plan for IP based services.

Keith Hayler (Crown Castle International) was elected as Chairman,
with Jouni Kamarainen (Nokia) elected as Vice Chairman & Secretary.
The five member Steering Group is comprised of Riku Salminen (Digita),
Frederick Maizeret (Teracom), Terry Howard (NTL), Torsten Jaekel
(Rohde&Schwarz) and Allan Arthurs (Sony).
Open to new members from throughout the industry, the Forum will
act as a catalyst to facilitate the growth of IP based content-rich
multimedia applications for delivery via a variety of digital broadcast
networks by developing a common set of implementation processes
and operating standards.
"The goals of the Forum are well aligned with the rapid convergence
of broadcasting and telecommunications" said Keith Hayler of
Crown Castle International, the newly elected chairman. "While
the initial group of member companies have significant breadth of
expertise in this area, we are now actively seeking to expand the
membership with a view to a major contribution to the delivery of
IP based services" he added.
